Background noise (also: noise floor) is the weakest noise component present at the location observed.
Bandwidth
Bandwidth B is the frequency range of a sound source. A high band width covers a large frequency range; a low band width has a smaller frequency range.
Bending waves/flexural waves
Flexural waves are transversal waves (i.e. perpendicular to the direction of propagation) spreading across panels or along beams. These waves may be (partially) converted to airborne sound, making them audible.

Building acoustics is the branch of acoustics that deals with the effects of structural conditions on sound propagation within buildings and between indoor spaces and the outside world.
